Siam Motors Industries and JWD are moving forward to offer logistics service, beginning with automotive spareparts, under the joint venture company “SIAM JWD Logistics”. The overview of the automotive spareparts industry is for a sustained recovery and the new company is piloting its operation by transporting mining equipment trucks and batteries within the Siam Motors network. It will then expand service to other automotive parts while speeding up negotiations to expand to new customer bases and industries outside the network. First year revenue target is set at 50 million baht and plans are afoot to expand the market for automotive sparepart logistics service to the rest of the ASEAN region.
Pratanwong Phornprapha, president of Siam Motors Industries Company Limited,said his company has been planning to enter the integrated automotive sparepart logistics business for sometime. It has been studying the trends and feasibility of the business before negotiating with the JWD InfoLogistics Pcl to jointly set up the SIAM JWD Logistics Co., Ltd.
“This business expansion is to increase the efficiency of logistic operations in an integrated way for the automotive and spareparts industry which is one of the 10 industries that will drive the future economy (New S-Curve).
“The goal is to head towards the development of a electric car industry that will use technology and innovation to increase our competitive capability. It will also maintain our position as the leading producer and exporter in the automotive industry,” Mr Pratanwong said.
This joint venture brings together the salient capabilities of both parties to collaborate on a business operation under the concept “redefining logistics”, which creates a new form of logistics service that caters to the individual needs of each client. The focus is on analysing and understanding the logistic system of the client, and using flexibility to manage all resources in a holistic manner. It can handle delivery of goods and automotive spareparts of subsidiary companies in the Siam Motors network while also offering supply chain management continuity, added value and increased business opportunity, in a quick and cost effective manner.
SIAM JWD has begun operating under the Siam Motors network for Siam GS Yuasa by transporting their batteries to dealers throughout the country. It also manages the transport of Komatsu mining equipments, taking them from the harbour to Maemoh mine in Lampang. Futhermore, the company has planned to serve clients outside the Siam Motors network to create continuous growth, and expand the market to the ASEAN region in the future.
Mr Charvanin Bunditkitsada, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JWD InfoLogistics Public Company Limited (JWD) who has long experience in integrated land logistics service, said the overview of the automotive sparepart logistic service is one of good growth propects since Thailand is an important base of prodcution for spareparts in the ASEAN region. JWD also has a vision to expand the customer base from logistics service for automotive manufacturers to sparepartproducers in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 groups. That is why JWD has joined with Siam Motors Industries, a major automotive sparepart manufacturer in the country, to set up the joint venture SIAM JWD Logistics Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 20 million baht. Siam Motors Industries (under the name of Pratanwong Pornprapha) holds 52.5% of the company’s shares, JWD holds 42.5% (under the name of Auto Logic Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of JWD), and another 5% are held by individuals. The company will provide logistics service to the automotive sparearts industry as well as other businesses in the Siam Motors network and other general industries, Mr Chavanin said.
JWD has more than 10 years of experience in providing logistics service to automotive manufacturers both at JWD’s warehouse areas and On-Site Service at clients’ warehouse areas. The service covers auto yard management, spareparts warehouse management and delivery of goods to final destinations. JWD employs the lastest technology and software to optimise the management of all logistic processes, ensuring its operations are quick and reliable. Presently, SIAM JWD Logistics Co., Ltd., is providing logistics service to sparepart factories in the Siam Motors network, namely transporting Komatsu mining equipments from the habour to the MaeMoh mine which requires special transport techniques, and delivering batteries for export and for distribution to dealers all over the country.
The revenue target for SIAM JWD Logistics in its first year of operation has been set at 50 million baht. This will come largely from servicing clients in the Siam Motors network, with plans to expand logistics service to other automotive sparepart manufacturers in the network within the next 2 to 3 years. There are also plans to expand the customer base to new clients outside the network in an effort to ensure that the operation of the joint venture company will grow continually.
